Research Summary

The main goal of the lab is in monitoring the cellular immune response to determine the effects on the immune system of treatments with novel immune therapies.Current trials that the core is involved with include anti-CD3 treatment for diabetes and angiogenesis inhibitors and immunomodulatory reagents such as anti-CTLA-4, anti-PD-1 and IL-2 in the treatment of melanoma. 6-color flow cytometry is used for phenotypic analysis of the different immune cell populations, including the use of MHC class I tetramers to measure the antigen-specific response.Functional assays include the use of Luminex, a bead-based technology for multiplex cytokine analysis and flow-based cytotoxicity assays.
